If you are interested in competitive West Coast Swing, learning a routine just for practice, or preparing for a wedding or a party, I can choreograph a routine to your level for virtually any type of show.

If you’re preparing for a wedding or other social event as the party host or just the guest, I enjoy finding the most fun ways to teach you enough to be the hit of the party, or at least get you feeling as comfortable as possible to have a good time.  I also enjoy working with an entourage of people such as your entire bridal party grooving to the same beat or kids performing for their whole family.

For all the competition routines I choreograph, I always try to apply my philosophy of dance which involves making the dance as functional as possible.  This is where movements flow as natural and organic as possible without feeling contrived or forced.  This strategy allows all my students to integrate their own style of movement to my choreography while giving viewers/judges a sense that they are emulating my dance technique with their own flavor without trying to put an imitation of my own routines.

I specialize in finding a level of difficulty with my choreography for my students where they can find a comfortable balance of cleanly executing their routine and challenging themselves with enough complexity to push themselves to the next level. I use a very unique teaching method that allows my students to learn their routine fast, efficiently and learning to implement performance quality movement to their routine immediately as they learn to memorize their choreography.

I use all my violin music training to utilize the music and choreograph to specific nuances in the music and balance it to the specific individuality that my students bring to their own dance.

I have experience with many competitors as well as the students wanting to just learn through a routine. I enjoy choreographing for team routines as well.

Coaching

Drawing from my experience in all dances as well as my music training, I enjoy coaching as much as choreographing.  Even if you received your choreography from another instructor or did it yourself, I can help you understand your choreography from a different perspective.  I also have great tips for helping you learn your routine if it’s your first time and/or have a new partnership.

With my assistance in choreography and coaching I have had many students excel and win competitions on the circuit including divisions at the U.S. Open.
